Another, Another point to Note: Britain


Inconsistencies galore are rife throughout the whole process. The Higher Education Funding Council warned that UK universities were "dumbing down." The upshot being that degrees are increasingly becoming worthless. “It would be have been better for those doing such worthless degrees to have taken a vocational course,” concurred the lead editorial. [Sunday Times - Aug 17, 1997] From another source, we are told, that the market is already "Saturated with incompetent holders of degrees in unwanted subjects." [Economist - Jan 25, 1997] By the way, if the whole purpose of this new mass higher education is to inform future employers as to the mettle of various applying young jobseekers. How now will employers know which degree is worthless or not?]
