The Alone Children

A rather nasty phenomenon intruded. It was a spate of children jumping from high buildings, some wearing uniform where all identification had been removed; something, I believe, unique to Japan. It simply didn’t wash, to me; that these children were, as some educators were suggesting, temporarily mad. Over so many cases {See parallel Blog ‘The Alone Children’} the common factor became clear; deep unhappiness at school. Indeed, for a number it was outright fear; the hideous bullying, and the rest. Some, at least, of these children were walking into harm’s way, and every day that they went to school. There was also the massive pressure from home -- ‘to succeed!’ Again, most always education engendered. Clearly, something should be done, but what?
