US President calls for College for Everyone

President Clinton's call for 2-years of college (tertiary, if not exactly higher) for everybody (and their brother) is so far only it is only in the slogan phase. [San Diego U. presidential debate, Oct 16, 1996] He has no real idea how to bring this about. Indeed, if looked at through Third Wave educational spectacles, it’s absurd. For this means assuming that all people have the mental equipment to jump through the sort of hoops that college education requires. That’s patently impossible. “So, really, is every America kid college material, then?” Just look around you. Does America really need every cab driver and his barber brother to have a college degree? Is that after all the great plan?
